Qualifications & Duties

Formerly, I served on the Village Board in 2007. During that time was the village liaison for the youth commission working cooperatively with the town to advance youth opportunities for our children.

I have served on the village board for the last two years. This includes completion of two budget seasons and additional duties as Fire commissioner and board representative to the Trumansburg Chamber of Commerce.

I attend fire department meetings once a month. I review purchasing and budget discussions with the fire chief and bring any issues or concerns before the board.

We are so fortunate in our community to have such dedicated volunteers.

Recently we contracted to have a grant written for $1,000,000 to help with the goal of building a new fire house. These funds became available through the state specifically for volunteer fire companies.

I am proud of my perfect board meeting attendance. I take my position very seriously and I do my homework. I am not afraid to ask questions or present unpopular ideas as long as it leads to productive and thoughtful discussion.

It is my belief I represent the whole community. I do not pass judgement, discriminate based on economic status, race, religion, gender, or party affiliation.

One of the reasons I am a registered Independent is because I believe good ideas come from both sides of the aisle. Often, we can get caught up in party affiliation leaving behind how we can best serve the majority and still be fully aware of the underserved.

I consider myself to be fair, honest, and open minded.

“I don’t always agree with you, but I consider you to be very honest”

Jim Gair (one of the best compliments I ever got)

Your memory lives on, Jim.
